Educate yourself on the Janus case
The New York Times ran an article that went unnoticed by many of us. The ramifications of the Janus case could be far-reaching. If the Supreme Court rules to overturn the 1977 Abood case, which it probably will, public teachers unions (K-12 and higher ed) will be vulnerable to a massive loss of revenue. There could be a serious free rider problem, where members don't have to pay dues but still get the benefit of collective bargaining.
This case does not seem like it will affect Berklee directly because we work for a private entity, not a government entity. But there is little doubt that once this domino falls, the anti-labor forces will smell the blood in the water and come after unions like ours.
